My Approach

My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy, connection, and collaboration. I want you to feel truly seen, heard, and supported in our work together. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can bring your full self—your worries, your hopes, and everything in between. I often describe my style as relational and attuned, which means I’ll meet you exactly where you are while also showing up authentically myself. I’ve found that sharing honesty and humanity in the therapy room helps build trust and models the kind of healthy, open communication that supports growth and stronger relationships.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I also pay attention to the bigger picture. None of us exist in isolation—we’re all shaped by the families, communities, and cultures we’re a part of. Together, we’ll look not only at the challenges you face within yourself but also at how the systems and relationships around you impact your experiences.

I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, always tailoring them to fit your unique needs. This may include setting meaningful goals, building coping skills, reframing unhelpful thought patterns, practicing acceptance, or finding motivation to move toward change. All of this work is done through a trauma-informed lens, with compassion at the center.

Most importantly, I believe that real healing happens within the therapeutic relationship itself. When you feel comfortable and safe, you can begin to process what’s been weighing on you and move toward meaningful change. My role is to walk alongside you in that process—with curiosity, support, and care.

Therapeutic modalities

In the therapy world, there are many therapeutic approaches and theories to draw from. I use these as guidelines for working with my clients and will “sprinkle” in a few others as appropriate.

  • Attachment theory helps us understand how our early relationships—particularly with caregivers—shape the way we connect with others throughout life. These early experiences influence how safe, seen, and supported we feel in relationships, and can impact patterns of closeness, trust, and emotional regulation. In therapy, we can explore your unique attachment story and how it may be affecting your current relationships. With compassion and curiosity, we work together to foster healthier, more secure connections.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy combines components of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). It emphasizes the balance between acceptance and change by helping individuals find ways to accept themselves while also working towards making positive changes in their lives. DBT has been effective in treating mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression through helping individuals develop skills to regulate intense emotions, tolerate distress, and improve interpersonal relationships.

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy is an approach that focuses on exploring and understanding an individual’s emotional experiences and their impact on their thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. It aims to help individuals develop a deeper awareness and understanding of their feelings, particularly those that may be underlying or driving distress or problematic patterns.

  • Narrative Therapy is an approach that focuses on the narratives individuals have about themselves and their lives. It recognizes that people create meaning and identity through the stories they tell and aims to help them reframe their narratives in a more empowering way. By deconstructing their stories, individuals can recreate narratives that feel more aligned with their values and aspirations.

  • Person-centered therapy is grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. This approach emphasizes a warm, nonjudgmental, and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. Through genuine connection and unconditional positive regard, therapy becomes a place to better understand yourself and move toward personal growth. The goal is to help you feel more empowered, aligned, and whole.

  • Psychodynamic therapy dives into the deeper, often hidden parts of your mind to understand how past experiences shape your current behavior and feelings. It's all about exploring how your childhood and unconscious thoughts impact you today. By working through these buried issues, you can gain new insights and change patterns that might be holding you back.
